Summer recipes just hit different, don’t they?
In the summer I personally thrive when starting the day with a good fruit salad. I don’t need any fancy add-ons, no yoghourt, no drizzles, just simple. Simple is always a winner and my current obsession is mango and strawberry. However, adding Moringachai Holy-Maté has been a game-changer, supplying all the benefits needed to really kick-start the day. Its antioxidant rich and adaptogenic properties balance mind, body and spirit. The added spices give any fruit salad a unique and refreshing flavour with cardomom and bergamot.
Mango is low in calories and has a really high nutritional profile. There is enough vitamin C in one cup of mango to give you 67% of your recommended DV (daily volume). Vitamin C helps to support your immune system, helps your body absorb iron and promotes cell growth and repair. Mango is also a good source of the minerals copper and folate, which are especially important nutrients during pregnancy, as they support healthy fetal growth and development.
Getting mango out of its skin is always the fun part and once you’ve sliced down each side of the giant pip, you just slice the flesh into squares being mindful not to cut into the skin itself, invert the halves to separate the cubes so you can more easily cut them away from the skin. Don’t waste the centre – cut away the skin and cut off any remaining flesh from the pip itself.
Rinse and cut your strawberries into quarters and tumble them in with the mango, sprinkle with Moringachai Holy-Maté and enjoy! If you fancy adding a few chopped nuts or yoghourt that’s always a great idea too, adding some protein to your first meal of the day.
